Why this calculator exists
A 25% sale does not simply mean “take 25% off and hope the margin works.” If your target sale price is $27.99, your regular list price must be high enough that the discounted price still covers production, fulfillment shipping, Etsy fees, and your target profit.
Two ways to use it
- Target sale price: Enter what you want the shopper to pay. The calculator gives you the regular Etsy list price and shows your estimated profit.
- Target profit: Enter the profit you want to keep. The calculator solves backward for the regular list price needed after the discount and selected Etsy fees.
Should you always run a 25% sale?
No. A discount should support your shop strategy rather than dictate it. Etsy currently lets sellers run percentage-off discounts from 5% to 75%, but that does not mean a large discount is profitable for every product. Price from your real economics first.
What about Offsite Ads?
If an order is attributed to Etsy Offsite Ads, the extra advertising fee can materially reduce margin. This calculator lets you model no Offsite Ads fee, 15%, or 12% before choosing your regular list price.
